Safaricom subscribers can now buy sms bundles using mpesa as a payment method. Previously to get sms bundles you were supposed to have the required airtime on your safaricom line.

SMS bundles come in various packages. You can buy daily bundles, weekly bundles or monthly bundles. 

The minimum amount needed to buy sms bundles is ksh 5 ( you get 20 sms for a single day) while the maximum is ksh 200 (you get 3500 sms for a month.).

Whichever package you want to buy, the good news is that you can now buy via mpesa. I got a message from safaricom telling me the same. Here is the message;

You can now purchase SMS bundles using M-PESA.  Dial *188# to get the best SMS bundles deals and keep the conversations going.

To buy sms bundles via mpesa, follow this process;

• Dial *188#
• Choose your preferred sms package 
• Choose your preferred sms bundle
• Choose mpesa as the payment method 
• Enter your service PiN ( mpesa pin)
• Submit 

You'll receive  confirmation messages concerning the bought bundle and mpesa transaction.
