Women and Youth will get interest free loans after Mastercard Foundation provided ksh 600 million to support SMEs hit by Coronavirus pandemic.
In a partnership with the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), Mastercard will see businesses run by youths and women from all over the country receive funding and technical trainings.
“Our goal is to help Micro and Small Enterprises survive the economic downturn and improve their resilience to enable them to continue to create employment and contribute to the country’s economic resurgence” said KNCCI President Richard Ngatia.
KNCCI will provide the loans through their branch outlets spread across all 47 counties in the country.
This part of Mastercard Foundation's COVID-19 Recivery and Resilient program which eyes and helps businesses hit badly by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Businesses that will be eligible will include those from agriculture, healthcare, manufacturing and retail sectors of the economy.
