Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) Wednesday unveiled 15 finalists for the coming Virtual Africa Hackathon which will take place end of August.
The finalists were chosen among 74 applicants from 14 countries spread in Africa, Europe and the Middle East.
With the theme ' Harnessing Fintech in addressing COVID-19 effects in healthcare, digital payments and economic recovery' the Virtual Hackathon is meant to harness the use of technology in health and economic matters in light of Coronavirus pandemic.
What is a Hackathon?
This is an event in which the participants design innovative solutions to identified problems using technology.Hackathon challenges lead to the development of ideas ,concepts and prototypes for innovative services, products or business models.
This Virtual Africa Hackathon will showcase newly developed solutions and existing ones.
15 Virtual Africa Hackathon Finalists

- CrossPath from Libya
- Fundi247 from Tanzania
- Kouran Jabo from Chad
- Last Mile Medicine from Kenya
- Loniwa from Kenya
- MIZA A2F from Tunisia
- MohiCash from Libya
- We-DARE by Ryken Business Intelligence from Kenya
- Sahani za Zavora from Kenya
- SMECredit Pro from Cameroon
- The Guarantee Company from Kenya
- Venue369 from Kenya
- Wiretooth Technologies by Finaclusion from Nigeria
Out of the 15 finalists, kenya posted a total of 7 participants, 2 from Cameroon, 2 from Libya ,1 from Tanzania, 1 from Chad, 1 from Tunisia and 1 from Nigeria.
