Safaricom finally launches Lipa Mdogo Mdogo

Safaricom on Tuesday finally launched the Lipa Mdogo Mdogo initiative that will see the provision of over 1 million 4G smartphones to customers on credit.

“We are delighted today to launch this product in line with our pillar of customer-centricity. Today, everyone is going through tough economic times. This product comes as a testament to our commitment to our purpose of transforming lives. Smartphones in the hands of our customers, possess life-transforming possibilities. They open a new world. We aim to take that world into the hands of every consumer through affordable means,” said Peter Ndegwa.

The initiative was first talked about in April this year. Today the telco has launched the programme in partnership with Google.

Qualifying customers can now access 4G internet enabled smartphones by paying a small deposit and pay th remaining amount in easy daily instalments of ksh 20 for up to a year.

Customers who qualify must be aged between 18 years and 75 years and must have been using a Safaricom line for  a minimum duration of atleast 1 year.

Those customers who will make punctual payments for a week will be rewarded with 100MB YouTube bundles for free.

To get started and enjoy the Lipa Mdogo Mdogo offer, a customer can dial USSD code *544# and choose Lipa Mdogo Mdogo .

Unfortunately, customers who are negatively listed by CRB or still have unpaid overdue okoa Jahazi, okoa bundles, fuliza, Mshwari or KCBMPesa loans can never be considered.
