The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) will meet on July 29th,2020 the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has announced.
MPC which met last on 25th June is the is the policy making and evaluating wing of the CBK led by Dr Patrick Njoroge.
During the last meeting, MPC met under high economic pressures as presented by the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic. At the same meeting, MPC resolved to keep the Central Bank Rate (CBR) at 7 per cent the same CBR previously in place.
CBK noted that the emergency measures taken in March were giving the intended effect, therefore the measures were kept in place too.
Banks were advised to restructure loans as requested by customers to cushion them against the negative impact as caused by the Coronavirus pandemic.
