Kenyas Safaricom and South Africa's Vodacom are in a joint venture to build the next generation M-Pesa Platform a month after completing acquisition.

M-Pesa was previously owned by by the United Kingdom telecommunications company, Vodafone before Safaricom completed acquisition last month. The mobile money platform is now African thus the name 'M-Pesa Africa.' 

Safaricom has now setup a full department with it's own management that will see M-Pesa grow and spread to even more countries and become the most profitable and trust mobile money platform. 

In the partnership with South Africa's Vodacom, Safaricom will build a new cloud based M-Pesa platform to make it easily accessible and improve convenience to smartphone users across the continent. 

In preparation for this, Safaricom has appointed Sitoyo Lopokoiyit as the interim Managing Director for the newly formed M-Pesa Africa. 

M-Pesa is now almost becoming the biggest revenue generating source for Safaricom as a company doing business in Kenya.
