Safaricom announced entering into a partnership with Visa in developing global digital payment products that will involve M-Pesa.
The payment products are aimed at benefiting over 24 million M-Pesa customers, 173,000 Lipa Na Mpesa merchants, over 61 million merchants locations over Visa Global network and over 3.4 billion visa cards in more than 200 countries and territories in the world.
Safaricom have been at the forefront in providing mobile money services in kenya under the Mpesa brand.
Subject to approval ,this partnership will enable individuals and businesses transact across borders all over the world.
“We are delighted to partner with Visa in exploring products that will support both our customers and Lipa Na M-PESA merchants. This partnership will play an important role in delivering even more value to our customers, linking them to even more opportunities especially in global e-commerce,” said Peter Ndegwa, CEO, Safaricom.
