Cashless Transactions Encouraged To Avoid Coronavirus (COVID-19) Spread

The Government of Kenya is now encouraging the use of cashless transactions and avoid the use of paper and coin money as it can contribute to spread of the pandemic Coronavirus disease.

The president said this on Sunday after two more cases of the virus infections were confirmed two days  after the the first case.

Due to expected upsurge of the number of users of cashless transactions, His Excellency, Uhuru Kenyatta urged the service providers of the cashless ways especially the banks, to reduce the transaction costs and avoid exploitation of the customers.

Cashless Ways To Use To Avoid Corona Virus 

Because the virus can be spread through exchanging of contaminated money from an infected individual to a healthy individual, the use of cash is highly discouraged.

In Kenya, here are the ways a person can transact without using hard cash and avoid contracting the disease through money;

  • Mobile money (Mpesa, Airtel money)
  • Cards ( Credit cards, Debit cards, prepaid cards)
  • Digital Payment options (Apps, USSD code, SMS,Web)
